Skipp joins former team-mate Winks at Leicester in £25m deal

Leicester City have signed Oliver Skipp in a deal worth £20million plus a further £5million in add-ons with Tottenham Hotspur.
Skipp came through the Tottenham academy and signed a five-year deal in 2022 worth nearly £70,000 a week. The 23-year-old, who started just five of his 21 league matches last season, will join Harry Winks, his former Spurs team-mate, at the King Power Stadium.
Tottenham also want to offload Giovani Lo Celso, the midfielder who is in the final year of his deal, and Manor Solomon, the winger who may depart on loan.
The club have sold Joe Rodon for £10million to Leeds United this summer and shipped out Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on an initial loan to Marseille that will become a £17million deal next summer.
Emerson Royal, the full back, has joined AC Milan for an initial £12.8million. Alejo Véliz and Bryan Gil have left on loan to Espanyol and Girona respectively. Ryan Sessegnon, now back with Fulham, and Japhet Tanganga, who has crossed the Thames to Millwall, were released while Tanguy Ndombélé left for Nice by mutual agreement last month.
Crystal Palace have stepped up efforts to sign Maxence Lacroix as a possible replacement for one of Joachim Andersen and Marc Guéhi their two centre backs who are subject to bids, the latter from Newcastle United whose need for the player has become more acute with the three-match suspension now facing Fabian Schär.
Newcastle’s fourth bid of up to £65million for Guéhi was turned down by Palace on Friday while Fulham want Andersen. Lacroix, 24, who has played for France at most youth levels, has worked under the Palace manager Oliver Glasner, helping Wolfsburg qualify for the Champions’ League in 2021, and has entered the final year of his contract at the German club.
Mateus Fernandes is set to have a medical at Southampton today after they agreed a fee of up to £16million with Sporting, in Portugal. The midfielder, 20, came through the club’s academy and was on loan last season with Estoril Praia, now back in the Portuguese top flight. Southampton, who will pay an initial £12.8million, have wanted an attacking midfielder but baulked at Celtic’s £30 million valuation of Matt O’Riley, the London born Denmark player.
Fulham are considering Las Palmas’s bid for Carlos Vinícius, the forward who was not part of the squad for the defeat at Old Trafford on Friday. Vinícius also has interest from Corinthians after entering the final year of his contract, which has a club option to extend by a season.
